MAJURO DENTAL DEPARTMENT

The Majuro Dental Department provides a variety of Dental Services.

All patients will undergo mouth examinations of the hard and soft tissues and other facial structures. After a diagnosis has been made, corrective measures will be taken

It is best to avoid doing the following before your dental appointment:

  • DO NOT brush or floss excessively. 
  • DO NOT put on too much makeup (i.e. lipstick)
  • DO NOT keep any medical history from your dentist. 
  • DO NOT drink alcohol beforehand. 
  • DO NOT smoke before the appointment. 
  • DO NOT be afraid to ask your dentist questions for clarity. 
  • DO NOT use cellphone during clinical operation/ procedure
  • DO NOT take picture/s inside the cubicle

PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY

Preventive dentistry is the practice of caring for your teeth to keep them healthy. This helps to avoid cavities, gum disease, enamel wear, and more.

Preventive Dentistry includes Tooth Brushing Instructions, Teeth Cleaning, Flouride Treatment, Fissure Sealant, etc

RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY
Restorative dentistry focuses on replacing damaged or missing teeth. This is done to improve overall dental health and restore chewing function.
Restorative dental procedures can save teeth and restore their natural look, shape, and feel.
Here are some Examples of Restorative treatments:

COMPOSITE FILLING
Made from acrylic and ceramic resin.
It is colored to look just like real teeth, making it cosmetically pleasing.

AMALGAM (SILVER) FILLING

Is a filling material made by mixing liquid mercury with an alloy made of silver, tin, and copper solid particles.

ROOT CANAL FILLING/ TREATMENT

A root canal treatment is a dental procedure to remove inflamed or infected pulp on the inside of the tooth, which is then carefully cleaned and disinfected, then filled and sealed.

DENTAL PROSTHETICS DEPARTMENT

This department deals with patients who have missing teeth. A Dental prosthesis is constructed to restore the missing teeth. 

Such prostheses are used to rehabilitate mastication (chewing), improve aesthetics, and aid speech.

Different types of Dental prosthesis includes:

Full  Dentures

Partial Dentures

Crowns

Crown and Bridge

ORAL SURGERY DEPARTMENT

Oral surgery refers to any surgical procedure performed on your teeth, gums, jaws or other oral structures.

These includes managing Fractured Mandibles, Third molar (wisdom) Extractions, removing abnormal growth from mouth, etc.

ORAL MEDICINE

Part of the Oral Surgery department. 

Deals with patients who have abnormal discolorations, unnatural growths, or any abnormality inside the mouth.

These patients are treated according to each diagnosis.

SCHOOL  VISIT PROGRAM

This is the Oral Health School programs. A Dental team goes to each school with the aim of doing Oral Health Promotions, Oral Examinations, etc.

Neighboring Islands ORAL HEALTH SERVICES

This is the taking of Dental Services to the Neighboring Islands. 

A full schedule is usually drawn up at the start of the year to ensure that no outer island is missed out.

On any Outer Island visit, the usual number of staffs are 2, a Dentist and an Assistant. Duration of stay at an outer island depends on the size of the population, and the travelling logistics.

All expecting mothers are referred to the Dental Clinic for full mouth examination and Oral Hygiene instructions and advises.
